3.3 mall is located in the bursting Sanlitun district in Beijing. The underground parking level being most of the time empty, the client wanted to use the -3 level to create a large gallery/event space. Mobility and stop & go parking became the basis of the project.

We proposed to create a set of mobile walls that could be deployed and "parked" in the 1000m2 space according to each exhibition requirements. The exhibition walls could even exit the space and display art in the streets or be reused as public furniture.
The access ramp was equipped with a mobile folded steel ceiling that could be lowered to transform the sloping space into a lecture hall. The furniture we designed were taking advantage of the building exposed piping that were omnipresent in the space. Either mobile or dismountable, they were made out of air-condition shafts that could adapt form-wise to the space they were implemented in. Within the rigid structure of the parking lot, a soft red surface on rails could be moved and house side programs such as a library or a cafe.
